I see on the news that the Germans have brought a fish festival to Aberdeen. This has to be a good thing, in the three years I lived in Aberdeen I was always disappointed about the quality of fresh food available there. Aberdeen has one of the biggest fishing ports in Europe, but try buying fish in the city. There is only one fish monger in the whole town (if you don’t count the stall at the once a month farmers market)!
Still that is better than trying to buy fresh fruit and veg there, in three years I couldn’t find a single green grocers!! Nor do any of the corner shops stock fresh fruit and veg! Aberdeen is surrounded by some of the best food producers in the world but you just can’t buy the stuff locally. No wonder the Scots diet has such a poor reputation.
