What if?
Well what if climate change is a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing? Do we really have to be completely dependent on foreign oil, pollution, and unsustainable practices in order to have jobs? Really? Or don’t you want a better world?

I am a climate change believer, but I worry about the effects of trying to hault the rot on developing countries. Many want to develop their resouces in the proud tradition of “rape & pillage” as used by western countries in the last century, any criticism or concern from the west is seen as hypocritical, as in “do as we say, not as we did” or should that be “do” as it suits us, especially in Australia where we love to take the moral high ground even when our own track record on an issue is abysmal.
If climate change turned out to be a big hoax & we had not encouraged, assisted & financed sustainable resource management in developing nations with the same zeal & inventiveness shown in developing our own resources, what sort of a better world would we have built?

I really would love to hear the answer to this. What I generally find though, is that people side-step it with the old fudge abour the environmentalist movement being the death of industry, and how it’s causing businesses to move elsewhere (like they didn’t do that before) and europe will lose out and become poor, but the tree huggers want this because they’re all socialists in disguise because they started when the USSR collapsed…
Or to put it another way: “I’ve made my mind up, don’t bother me with facts” Unfirtunately some goos intelligent friends of mine subscribe to this view.
